About Our Family

My name is Valerie Johnson. I am a 50 something year old baby boomer who, along with my husband, had been an empty nester for the past 10 years.

My sister Gladys had a stroke about three years ago and began living with my daughter in Pennsylvania. In February of 2008 we decided to move Gladys to Georgia to live with me and my husband, Fred. The purpose of this blog is to chronicle this transition in our lives as well as share information that might be helpful to others. We also want to receive information from others that might be helpful to us.

Of course as we get further into living as caregivers, we will probably need encouragement as well.

About the Blog

This blog was actually started in June 2008 as part of another website. At the end of July, my blog disappeared and my database was empty. I never found out why but I decided to begin over as a standalone site with another web host.  I have attempted to recreate the posts that were on the previous site. So, in case some of these post look sort of familiar, our previous address was http://caregiversjournal@50andup.info.
