Valerie: I just happened to read that info in the local paper, and I don't know their source. Nor do I know how the money will be spent. I predict a battle royal, because the Governor is a Republican and the legislature Democratic.

@Hattie, I don't know what Georgia gets from the stimulus package. How do I find out?

@ KWiz - these budget cuts are cruel. I spoke with my friend who manages the apartment complex and she said Social Services told her that money was being cut from seniors and diverted to single mothers with children. There has to be a better way.

It is amazing how cruel the government is to the elderly. Unless legislators and politicians are packing away boat-loads of money, some of theme (or someone close to them) will need these services one day, and when they do, they won't be there for them. I don't wish ill on anyone, but what goes around comes around. I'm sorry for ranting; I just think that the people who've given so much for this country in so many ways - seniors - deserve so much more than they get. And they shouldn't have to jump through a gazillion hoops to get it. I'm applying for VA benefits for my father right now, and in my research, I am finding that when we apply, everything has to be just right or the claim may be denied and he won't be able to apply for another year. Yet, the VA doesn't really give you the proper information to make a complete claim. Thank God for the internet.

Excuse my rant...

Such budget cuts are cruel to seniors and caregivers. Do you know how much of the stimulus package will go to your state? We are slated to get one billion dollars.
