My neighbors have reached the point where they can't care for themselves any longer and their son is building a house for them on his property. I'll miss them. I hope they have some notion of what this will mean for all of them.

My Dad was the "Old Man in the Garage." He used to sit for hours and hours in the garage watching all the happening in the neighborhood. He would come in the house and tell us about the black panther or other wild animal he saw or tell us about all the people. He also had dementia and the garage was the best part of his day.
I think this is a great idea to have a class for people caring for their parents. When I started caring for my parents I was totally in the dark and had no idea what to do. Yea for you having a class!

This is a great idea. I think I'll check into it.

I'm not in Atlanta right now but I've been keeping up with the flooding via Twitter. It's getting better. Unfortunately, many people are not covered by insurance.

Wouldn't it be great if community colleges offered basic classes about caregiving and medical topics? Like, along with "Healthy Mediterranean Cooking" and "Excel 2007," you could take "Dementia for Dummies" or "Incontinence and You."

Some local hospitals have classes about cancer or diabetes, but these always seem to be geared toward the person with the condition, not the caregiver.

Hope y'all are staying dry...
